Immigration Mental Health Evaluations

Professional Immigration Evaluations Rooted in Dignity, Diversity, and Care

Mental health evaluations are often used in immigration court and across many types of immigration cases. A licensed counselor can provide a specialized psychological evaluation that explains a client’s experiences and circumstances from a clinical perspective.

Evaluations are conducted with cultural humility and sensitivity to LGBTQ+ and other marginalized identities.

This type of evaluation is unique because the counselor acts in a forensic capacity, rather than forming a therapeutic relationship. In other words, the evaluation is conducted independently, and the counselor does not serve as an advocate for the client, the attorney, or the court. The evaluator maintains a neutral and objective stance throughout the process and does not provide opinions intended to support or oppose any legal outcome.

While I am open to a range of evaluation types, my current focus includes cases involving asylum, VAWA, and extreme hardship.

Evaluations are conducted for the purpose of providing an independent, objective psychological opinion. Although retained by counsel, the evaluator does not serve as an advocate for any party, and conclusions are based solely on clinical findings and professional judgment.
